@DetroitBORG it has GPS dumass it just doesnt have A-GPS because it has no 3G to download satellite coordinates, raw GPS will take up to 5 minutes outside to get a clear perfect lock because it gets the satellites positions by itself

@DetroitBORG well, it is piling my location from the WIFI Adhoc, I was puzzle when I found this out because on my other device, “Archos 5 android, I could never get location from wifi when tethering but I was also using Bluetooth tethering so… My location moves every 20 or 30 steps I make, so, it’s pretty accurate for my need. I will make a video of it soon. Looks like people don’t know about this yet.

@Martins2012 That’s interesting, but I wonder if it’s actually pulling geo-location information from the wifi hotspots throughout the city. Is it seamlessly following you foot by foots? I haven’t heard about this functionality so I’m curious how it’s happening, I don’t know of a protocol that supports location data over an adhoc wifi network on a mobile device.

Well guess what? If you tether the iPad with a cellphone your location moves as you move around the city. I do that sometimes when I need to find places in NYC

@WiiManElite Yes, but you’ll need software since the iPad doesn’t come with turn-by-turn. It comes with Google Maps which can give you rudimentary mapping functions and directions.

@WiiManElite I think it is, even if you’re not sure you’ll use out of a WiFi hotspot. At least you have the option and it gives you a GPS antenna.
